Osteopathy for Headaches and Migraines

Do you suffer from headaches or migraines? Osteopathy can help!

An introduction to the culprits...

Although the pain may primarily be in your head or around your eyes, the root cause of the headaches can be coming from the structures in your neck and shoulders.

When the muscles in the neck, primarily the sternocleidomastoid (left image) and the upper trapezius (right image), become tight they can cause referred pain around the head, eyes, jaw and even inner ear.

The same is true for the facet joints (image below) in the cervical spine, when these joints become restricted due to poor posture or associated muscle tightness, they too can cause referred pain into the head, neck and shoulders (image below).

So, how can Osteopathy help?

Osteopaths work to find the root cause of your pain to help with your current symptoms but also aim to prevent the pain from coming back.

We use a series of techniques such as soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, joint manipulation, PNF stretching and exercise rehabilitation.

We may sometimes work further away from your head as well, including your mid back, shoulder blades and pectoral muscles to help with your overall posture.

If you suffer from headaches and migraines why not give Osteopathy a go ✨💆🏻
